Craftsmanship Brighton are a local, family run business that has been established in Hove for a number of years. Gareth, the owner operator, and his partner Rachel are both from Brighton and run the business together.

Gareth is a skilled and qualified carpenter joiner, well regarded in the local area and has a background in timber boat building and high-end joinery. He has also built numerous properties and loft conversions. With a keen eye for detail and design, Gareth is known for his high end finish, easy going demeanour and ability to ‘fix things’.   His extensive knowledge on window and building issues generally, brings peace of mind to our customers. With over 20 years specialist experience, he produces a quality end product, representing excellent value for money – making us the best at what we do.

Rachel oversees administration and is a whizz when it comes to efficiency and organising jobs.  Whether we are working on a large block of flats or a single residential property, she applies the same level of efficiency to each and every job, ensuring it runs seamlessly from beginning to end.  One of Rachel’s other talents is marketing and design. She will spot issues and typos long before anyone else and can often be found fine-tuning our literature. Rachel comes from a property law background and is therefore a helpful point of contact for any planning, conservation and freehold matters that might affect your works.

Our replacement joinery is made using carefully selected joinery grade timbers from sustainable sources. We generally use hardwood for our exterior cills and external doors. Our rot repair work is also carried out using quality timbers – not fillers and foams.

Over the years we have developed a comprehensive double glazing system to preserve the integrity of our customers’ traditional sash windows, whilst providing the optimum solution to reducing draughts condensation and noise, and improving energy efficiency.

Skilled Craftsmen

Traditional timber windows are a beautiful period feature adding character and value to your home. They are part of Brighton & Hove’s architectural heritage and a distinctive feature in conservation areas and listed buildings.  As such, they require sympathetic restoration by skilled, qualified Craftsmen.

We take great care in measuring and taking patterns and can match any profile, moulding and horn detail to replicate the original features of your windows and those of neighbouring properties.  Our rot repair work is also carried out using traditional joinery methods and techniques.

Complete Exterior Service

Window restoration is often carried out in conjunction with exterior decorating & building maintenance works and we provide a full exterior service for your convenience.  From traditional lime renders through to durable quality paints, we are known for our sympathetic, traditional approach to period properties and thorough preparation for a long-lasting job.

Made in Hove

All of our new joinery is made locally in Hove and is competitively priced. This enables us to maintain consistent standards and oversee quality control. We do not import (or source) cheap, poor-quality joinery products and we also advise against it. Good quality always represents better value for money.
